Book Club: The Disciplined Trader - Mark Douglas
This is a book written to take a beginning or intermediate trader to a high level of success. Douglas argues that it is almost always not technique, but mental strength and discipline that make great traders and he is absolutely correct.
That being said I got about half way through this one and grew frustrated with his style. Douglas took much too long to build his points and I found his chapters to be too drawn out. While I encourage any aspiring traders like myself to read and study the psychology of the markets, and more importantly personal psychology; I prefer the format of authors like Brett Steenbarger and Adam Grimes. I owe both of them a re-read and will post much more detailed thoughts on lessons learned.
Overall recommendation: Pass in favor of Grimes/Steenbarger’s books.
